# Global sections overview
Global sections are the building blocks of your pages — add them to any template, arrange them in any order, and compose the layout you want directly in the theme editor. Each section is a container you fill with blocks, so the same section can look different from one page to the next.
They're organized by what they help you do:

## Section dividers
Most sections have a **Divider** group in their settings, so you can separate one section from the next with a thin line — no extra Divider section needed.
| Setting | Description |
| ------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Show top divider | Draws a line above the section. |
| Show bottom divider | Draws a line below the section. |
| Full-width divider | Runs the line across the full screen width. Turn it off to stop the line where the section content does. Available when either divider is on. |
The line takes the border color of the section's color scheme. Footer [Rows](/helix/footer-group/available-blocks.md#row) and the [Marquee](/helix/theme-blocks/layout/marquee.md) block offer the same top and bottom dividers.
