# How to set up a recently viewed page

The **Recently Viewed** page shows a grid of products the customer has recently browsed, built from the browsing history stored in their browser — an easy way back to items they looked at but didn't buy. Set it up by creating a page template that uses the **Recently viewed (page)** section, then assigning that template to a new page.

## Step 1 — Create the recently-viewed template

Templates are created in the theme editor, so the template exists before you assign it to a page.

1. In Shopify admin, go to **Online Store → Themes**, find Helix, and click **Customize**.
2. Click the template drop-down menu at the top, choose the **Page** template type, then click **Create template**.
3. In the **Create a template** dialog, enter a name (for example, `recently-viewed`), leave **Based on** set to **Default page**, and click **Create template**.
4. In the new template, click **Add section → Recently viewed (page)**, then adjust its columns, spacing, and color scheme.
5. Click **Save**.

Helix also includes a separate **Recently viewed** section, used to show a recently viewed row on other pages such as the product page. The dedicated page template uses **Recently viewed (page)** — make sure you add that one.

## Step 2 — Create the page and assign the template

1. In Shopify admin, go to **Online Store → Pages** and click **Add page**.
2. Enter a title, for example: `Recently Viewed`.
3. In the **Theme template** drop-down on the right, select the **recently-viewed** template you just created.
4. Click **Save**.

The list clears when the customer clicks **Clear all** or when their browser storage is cleared.
