# Editorial text

A large statement line — a manifesto, a mission line, a campaign phrase — that reveals letter by letter as the shopper scrolls. You can drop small images straight into the sentence, so a phrase like "made for **\[img1]** long days" carries its own imagery inline.

Add it to a [Custom section](/helix/global-sections/layout/custom-section.md), to [Scroll reading text](/helix/global-sections/storytelling/scroll-reading-text.md), or inside a **Group** or **Section header** block.

## Text

| Setting     | Description                                                                                                    |
| ----------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Text        | The phrase to display. Press Enter for a line break, and use image tokens to place images inside the sentence. |
| Limit width | Caps the text to a maximum width so long lines stay readable.                                                  |
| Max width   | The widest the text can run. Available when Limit width is on.                                                 |

## Inline images

Type `[img1]`, `[img2]`, and so on where you want an image to sit in the sentence. The number matches the image slot below, and there are five slots to work with.

Each slot has its own settings:

| Setting         | Description                                                                                              |
| --------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Show image      | Turns the slot on. A token whose slot is off renders as nothing, so shoppers never see a stray `[img3]`. |
| Image           | The image for this slot. Turning the slot on before picking an image shows a placeholder.                |
| Desktop width   | How wide the image is on desktop.                                                                        |
| Mobile width    | How wide the image is on mobile.                                                                         |
| Link            | Makes the image clickable.                                                                               |
| Open in new tab | Opens the link in a new browser tab.                                                                     |

### Border

| Setting              | Description                                                            |
| -------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Image corner radius  | Corner rounding applied to every inline image.                         |
| Custom corner radius | A specific radius value. Available when Image corner radius is Custom. |

## Typography

| Setting           | Description                                                                                   |
| ----------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Size              | Text size. Choose Custom to control the style, size, line height, spacing, and case yourself. |
| Text style        | Which of your theme fonts the text uses. Available when Size is Custom.                       |
| Font size         | Text size in pixels. Available when Size is Custom.                                           |
| Line height       | Space between lines. Available when Size is Custom.                                           |
| Letter spacing    | Space between letters. Available when Size is Custom.                                         |
| Text case         | Forces upper, lower, or capitalized text. Available when Size is Custom.                      |
| Custom for mobile | Set a separate font size and line height on mobile. Available when Size is Custom.            |

## Scroll settings

| Setting              | Description                                                                                                          |
| -------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Enable scroll reveal | Fades the letters in as the block crosses the viewport. Turn it off to show the text at full strength straight away. |
| Scroll speed         | How quickly the text reveals. Only inside the Scroll reading text section.                                           |
| Start opacity        | How faint each letter is before it fades in.                                                                         |

Inside [Scroll reading text](/helix/global-sections/storytelling/scroll-reading-text.md), the reveal is always on and is driven by the section's own pinned scroll, so **Enable scroll reveal** is hidden and **Scroll speed** takes over.

## Animation

| Setting | Description                                    |
| ------- | ---------------------------------------------- |
| Type    | Entrance animation for the block.              |
| Delay   | How long the animation waits before it starts. |

## Padding

| Setting           | Description                                    |
| ----------------- | ---------------------------------------------- |
| Top / Bottom      | Space above and below the block.               |
| Custom for mobile | Set separate top and bottom padding on mobile. |
